Serena and Venus will be at the Fed Cup
Serena and Venus Williams have committed to play in Fed Cup final against Italy in November. Neither one nor the other sisters had attended the event since 2007.
The U.S. team captain, Mary Joe Fernandez, said Thursday that “you always want to have your best players,” and was “very pleased” to have the Williamses.
The Americans have not won the Fed Cup since 2000. They lost the final against the Italians last year.
The confrontation of-five will be held on November 6 and 7, on hard courts, the San Diego Sports Arena. The U.S. team is complemented by Melanie Oudin, Bethanie Mattek and Liezel Huber-Sands.

The WTA circuit has called into doubt the return of Serena Williams in time for the International United States because of his recent injury to a foot.
Williams has decided the right foot stepping on a shard of glass in a restaurant, shortly after her triumph at Wimbledon. The WTA had said last week it would go under the knife, and it probably would miss the last three tournaments before the U.S. International, including the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
On Monday, the spokesman of the circuit, Andrew Walker, said that the return of Williams in time for the last major tournament of the season was called into question.
The return of Williams at Flushing Meadows was highly anticipated because of his controversial defeat in the semifinals last year after she garlanded a linesman at the match against Kim Clijsters. The American was then fined a record $ 82,500 for his long tirade.
