Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini said on Wednesday that his club had had no contact with Wayne Rooney.

Asked if City had approached the attacker’s rival club, Manchester United, the Italian simply replied: “No, never.”

UM coach Alex Ferguson confirmed on Tuesday that Rooney wanted to change teams.

The clubs most often cited by the English press are welcome to Manchester City and Real Madrid.

“Rooney is a very good player but I think he will stay at Manchester United. I do not think it will change,” added Mancini.

“For me, it’s a United player and it would not be correct to speak of the situation,” he said.

Mourinho confident Rooney will stay at Man U.
