Manchester City refuses to exchange Carlos Tevez
Manchester City have rejected a transfer request in writing by his star striker, Argentine Carlos Tevez, the club announced Sunday.
“It is with disappointment that we confirm to our supporters that Carlos Tevez Tevez gave us a transfer request in writing. The club also confirmed that it was rejected,” said Manchester City in a statement.
Eight days ago, Tevez did not hide his anger when his coach Roberto Mancini had left at the end of the match against Bolton. The incident was interpreted as a sign of deteriorating relations between Argentina and Italy.
The British press also argues for several months that Tevez was homesick and suffering from the absence of his two daughters remained in Argentina.
“Roberto Mancini and the whole club have shown and continue to be sensitive to the situation Carlos, including the fact that his family is abroad,” said City in a statement.
Suspended for Saturday’s game at West Ham (3-1), Tevez was given permission to travel to South America, said the club.
“The transfer request in writing contrasts sharply with the position posted by Carlos both in public and within the club,” added Manchester City.
In an interview with the club’s official magazine, published earlier this week, Tevez, still under contract for three and a half years, said he had no return permanently to Argentina or retire.
Manchester City has challenged “representatives” of the player, who asked several times in recent months a “renegotiation”. “In keeping with club policy is not to renegotiate contracts in mid-season, it was not accepted,” said City.
Manchester City has joined an interim head Saturday in the Premier League, trailing only on goal difference from Arsenal.
Tevez is second in the Championship scoring charts with ten goals for England.
Arrived from Manchester United 18 months ago, Argentina has made it essential for City, scoring 39 goals in 60 matches.
Man City remains in the “Big Four”
Manchester City stayed in the Big Four Championship in England after its 4-1 win over Fulham on Sunday at the 14th day and fight for the title with Chelsea, beaten 1-0 at Birmingham, “MU” , winner of Wigan 2-0, and Arsenal defeated Tottenham by 2-3.
During a one-sided first period, the Citizens have scored three goals for Tevez, Abaleta and Yaya Toure. The second period was enough for Carlos Tevez to make a double and take sole lead the scoring charts. With 25 points, Mancini’s men are just a length of Arsenal (3rd), Chelsea and Manchester United, the duo head with three ahead of City.
Saturday, “ManU” took full advantage of Chelsea’s defeat to Birmingham, his third in four games, and the first loss at home to Arsenal coming up for the Blues lead the Championship (28 pts).
This is the kind of day that Sir Alex Ferguson relishes. In 24 years at the helm of MU, the Scottish manager has been very afternoon when his team takes advantage of the mistakes of his rivals for the title.
Far from being great, the Red Devils, thanks to Patrice Evra (his first goal in three years) and small Javier Hernandez, won a decisive victory for the rest of the season.
Again, as since the beginning of the season, the game offered by “MU” has been disappointing, even against 9 to 11 for thirty minutes. United now waiting for the return to fitness of Wayne Rooney, standing ovation for his coming into play in the 56th minute and missed an opportunity late in the game.
For its part, Chelsea, the defending champion, lost for the third time in the last four league games after suffering the law of Liverpool (2-0) and Sunderland (3-0).
Championship relaunched
The Blues have conceded a goal yet and, especially, were once again unable to register a to a team from Birmingham, only 14th. Even if Chelsea retain his place at the top of the Premier League, the crisis is here and there.
The Gunners, they were leading 2-0 at half time against Tottenham before sinking and bowing 3-2. This defeat, the first at home against their hated neighbor for 17 years, recalled all the shortcomings of this team, young and bright, but suffers from a lack of maturity and experience crying.
Not the players Arsene Wenger would have lost this match. Yet they lost, cashing purposes of chicks and they missed the opportunity to take the lead in the Premier League.
Bolton, now fifth, has signed a stunning victory over Newcastle (5-1). The Trotters, which produce a very nice football, are currently the biggest surprise of the season. Liverpool, West Ham won easily 3-0, continuing its recovery and now points to ninth place.
The day also marked the first appearance of the 1998 world champion Robert Pires with Aston Villa (13th), which did not prevent the “Villans” to lose 2-0 against Blackburn (11th).

However, overall, the Red Devils, with England’s Wayne Rooney as a lone striker, had difficulty creating clear chances in the first half. The United printed more pressure on the eleventh day of Roberto Mancini, without Robinho, who is negotiating his departure from this entity to a Brazilian club, and that mood is translated into an offensive first goal for the hosts, who signed on 52 minutes English Paul Scholes, a pass from Michael Carrick.
The United regained his form and took the lead heading into the final. Carrick added to the lead on 71 minutes. And the reply came from a fighter Tevez, who moments later finished off a pass from Welshman Craig Bellamy to give hope to your team.
He could be. Tevez replication was aborted by an unstoppable Wayne Rooney, who said the last word and put in the last minute, his team in the final of the Carling with the third goal of the game.
