Jorge Lorenzo Yamaha renews contract until 2010

“It was a very important decision, so I take it has been several weeks,” he said.

The Spanish Jorge Lorenzo will remain on the Yamaha team in MotoGP world championship in 2010, according to the renewal agreement reached by both parties.

Lorenzo had an offer from Ducati for next year, but eventually agreed to the extension that was offered Yamaha, where he will continue as a companion to Italian Valentino Rossi, the World leader displacement. The Spanish took the second place.

“I am delighted,” said Jorge Lorenzo. “It’s a good day because I have decided to stay with Yamaha in 2010. It was a very important decision, which is why it has taken me several weeks to take it. I think it’s best for me right now.”

Lin Jarvis, managing director of Yamaha Motor Racing, expressed the satisfaction of the team by having Lorenzo for next year.

“We are delighted that George has chosen to stay with Yamaha and we hope to continue many more years. We have no doubt he has talent and ability to be world champion in MotoGP. Furthermore, we are proud to stay with us despite offers it has received from the competition, “he said.
