Real Madrid fans are more religious than Barcelona
According to the study, non-believers tend to identify more with the club, while the most religious people are inclined to Real Madrid.
Specifically, 50% of respondents claiming to be non-believers are declared Barca fans, while only 11% of this group of respondents who claims not to believe claims to be a fan of the team merengue. By contrast, among Catholics (who practice their faith to some extent) the preference lies with the Real Madrid: 40% of them follows the white set, ten points more than those who follow the Blaugrana team.
As noted by Sport.es daily, although the study does not address specifically the nuances in terms of geographical area and different religious customs in each province, very significant yields data on the faith of the fans. Among those who call themselves practicing Catholics, the mother outweighs the Barça (35-29 percent). Interestingly, the percentages are matched between those who declare themselves non-practicing Catholics: 38 percent is Blaugrana and another 38 percent, Real Madrid, but invest significantly among those who profess another religion: 57 percent of whom are Barca and 14 percent of Real Madrid.
