Germany’s Sebastian Vettel, reigning world champion in Formula 1, still considers his compatriot Michael Schumacher as his model, he said Thursday in a German magazine.

“I still see it as a model and I believe he can achieve something big (this season). I hope it will not be too large: it is 2nd in Championship 2011, it’s OK for me “said Red Bull driver magazine ADAC Motorwelt.

For its part, the seven-time world champion returned to competition in 2010 with Mercedes, said in the same magazine he was 42 years old “yet good enough ” to drive in F1, or even seek to end the championship the world.

Nine of the 2010 Championship, “Schumi” described the car last season as “a sick child could no longer care. ”

“This season I think we can target the podium and why not Grand Prix victories (…) Speaking of world title is still unrealistic, ” he said.

Bayern Munich was well placed to take revenge for the final of the Champions League last year with victory at the last minute at Inter Milan (1-0), Wednesday 8th final in a match full of chances.

Mario Gomez

A refinement of cruelty. Bayern scored with the weapon of the Inter-cons the attack, when the European champions pushed the hardest to try to take advantage.

Mario Gomez, quiet until then pounced on a shot from Arjen Robben rejected by Julio Cesar to score the goal (90), his seventh in the competition, which puts Bayern in good position to clear the final loss to Madrid ( 2-0) against Inter Jose Mourinho. It must still be confirmed upon return to Bavaria, March 15.

Inter has not dropped his cup, but this third straight defeat at home against Bayern (1988 and 2006) hurts. The third disappointment of an Italian club at home in eighth-finals after AC Milan and AS Roma last week, hurts even more.

There is some truth in the words of Louis van Gaal. Coach Bavarian believed, despite the praise for the game of unbridled way Leonardo Inter (30 goals scored, 17 conceded in 13 games), the European champions were still playing “defensive” as last season. Indeed, Bayern has produced most of the game and Inter has operated mainly in counter attacks.

Upon arrival, Inter has created a few more chances, but lost.

Bayern hit a post and bar when Samuel Eto’o, unleashed, creating large gaps in the defense of Bavaria.

The Red and White were the first into action. Franck Ribery hit the crossbar with a header (24), Thomas Müller then fired into the clouds to six meters (29), then hit too softly a head after the recovery (47).

After the first few dribbles failures, the duo-Ribery Robben finally reformed (this was the third consecutive output of “Robbery”) having both been wounded, was the “the” for orchestrating the maneuver. French, suspended for the final was even cautioned for a tackle on Sneijder too involved (34). Robben struck his post (53) and above (59).

Inter also was threatening, but especially against or by the dictates of Eto’o.

Cameroon first took a walk (23) Holger Badstuber around and eventually serve Esteban Cambiasso, but from a tight angle, the Argentine has struggled with the young goalkeeper Thomas Kraft, 22, preferred to Hans-Jörg Butt, goalkeeper of the Madrid final.

In the central area, Eto’o still stumbling about Kraft, his fist (33). He was so tormented that van Gaal Badstuber chose to leave Pranjic Breno (38), replacing Badstuber at fullback left.

Eto’o again pierced the defense to hit on Bavaria Kraft, and Cambiasso, yet six feet, took up significantly above (57).

And Bayern scored on … cons-attack after a last charge interesting, including a head at close range Thiago Motta (85) still adorned by Kraft.

The Montreal Impact will receive an important visitor at Saputo Stadium on 11 May, while Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez and the Red Bulls of MLS New York will be in town for an exhibition game.

Thierry Henry

The Montreal Impact announced Monday that unique – for now – international friendly match to its schedule for the 2011 season. The season ticket holders will have the pleasant surprise to see this ticket included in their season pass.

Henry, good prince, said he was eager to be back in Montreal, even if he does not know much about the city or its football club.

“I’m really happy to participate in this friendly match and go for the first time in Montreal, said the former star of the team of France and Arsenal. I know that in general the French are welcomed to Montreal and I always heard good things about the city.

“I hope we can give a good show and I know that in this part of Canada, people love football, unless I have to say soccer,” he rightly noted.

Henry does not get tired of this also as an ambassador for the MLS which is almost all major international players who jump in first North American division.

“It is always important, but should not forget that the most important thing is that I can do on the field. I could not do me justice last year – I arrived in mid-season and I’m hurt. But it is with great pleasure that I am in Montreal. ”

Although this is the only “happening” of his season so far, the Impact has not seen fit to play this event at Olympic Stadium.

“There was never any question,” said Joey Saputo, president of the team. We wanted to play this game at Saputo Stadium. We believe that this match made in mid-May, it was important to stay in our stadium. We believe that we will have no trouble selling the approximately 13,000 seats and are comfortable presenting this game to us.

“That will be a nicer environment (at Saputo Stadium) that if we had introduced this game at Olympic Stadium.”

A star: not important

The visit of Thierry Henry in Montreal has revived the discussion on the need for an international superstar in the Impact for its passage in MLS. But Saputo is not a priority.

“I think that in Montreal, the important thing is to have a winning team, said team president. If it means making efforts to attract a major player, that’s what we do. But foremost, I think what we need to do is build the team by watching the players who are currently part of our training to see if they are willing to make the leap into MLS.

“If this is not the case, maybe we will evaluate the possibility of attracting a big star. We talk and it’s not something we dismiss out of hand if we believe that we need. ”

In addition to Henry and Mark, proponents of reviving the Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton, holder of eleven colors Montreal from 2001 to 2006, Henry did not know what. He could count on President Saputo remind him live …

The Impact, who has six French players in its ranks (“I am not aware,” said Henry), will play one final season in the NASL before joining MLS in 2012.

The team left Montreal this weekend to continue its preparations in Arizona, where she will face the MLS clubs in Portland, Kansas City and Dallas. She will be back in Montreal on March 4.

“The danger is obvious, is not it?, Ecclestone told the website of British newspaper the Daily Telegraph. If these people (the protesters) want to make noise to gain international recognition, it will be really easy, n is not it? ”

“You start to create a problem on the grid in Bahrain, and you have worldwide coverage,” said Ecclestone stating he would contact the king of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, to the Update on the situation.

Tottenham took an option on the quarter-finals of the Champions League by beating AC Milan at San Siro (1-0) on a blitz-cons rewarding his offensive mindset as it sanctioned the sluggishness of the Rossoneri.

Peter Crouch

A rise ball supersonic Aaron Lennon, who served Peter Crouch alone with the keeper (80), gave a deserved victory for Spurs + + for their first participation in the C1.

The fireworks between the two teams announced very offensive did not occur. In the cold rain of San Siro, only the defender Mario Yepes has created two great chances to score (50, 60) for his family. It will offer something more in London in three weeks.

Leader of the Serie A, Milan still has missed a great match at San Siro, where he already lost against Juventus and AS Roma (sectional and championship).

The match began in earnest in the second half, when Pato Clarence Seedorf replaced a few inspired and heckled by the audience, jeering that his wrong choices. The young Brazilian was then shared the front of the attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But none was a great day and they did not weigh on the axis William Gallas Michael Dawson. A goal was disallowed for a stroller to Ibra on a defender in extra time (90 +3).

Abbiati to hospital

The tone is still up a notch after a tackle with both feet off from Mathieu Flamini on Vedran Corluka (55), who probably deserved a red card (the Croat is out injured), but the French referee Stephane Lannoy gave only yellow.

Mario Yepes, who holds through the shift Thiago Silva in midfield, was close to scoring twice, first on a header that took the path of the window (50) and then another header stopped by a superb diving Heurelho Gomes (60).

Before that boost Milan, Tottenham had dominated the rather early game. Aaron Lennon, dangerous on the right side, has repeatedly put the panic in the defense and passed a bad night at Luca Antonini.

Milan also lost early goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, hurt by falling to the cervical and replaced by Marco Amelia (17). Abbiati was evacuated to a hospital for tests.

Harry Redknapp also were injured and had to cope without her gem, Gareth Bale, who signed hereby sensational hat-trick against Inter in chickens (for losing 4-3) and decreased with Luka Modric appendicitis and came to the final 20 minutes. If they are there to return, Milan will really have to beat to qualify.

Soderling, seeded No. 1, who had never lost a single round in three previous encounters against the French (No. 8), has faltered this time conceding the second set.

But the Swede then confirmed he is one of the best players in the world indoors by removing the French No 2 who had him over to the finals of a tournament since his victory in October 2009 in Tokyo.

Soderling, 26, is the fourth player to win twice in Rotterdam after the American Arthur Ashe, the Swede Stefan Edberg and French Nicolas Escude.

Already a finalist in 2008, Soderling adopted the Dutch tournament: “I feel so good here: this is the first time I retain a title,” he said after winning his eighth ATP title (in 18 finals).

“Just like my previous matches this week, I was abused, but I was very sturdy at important points. Win here, it’s magic, because the tournament was really found,” added finalist at Roland Garros in 2009 and 2010.

Tsonga has recognized that “Soderling deserves his victory.” “He was just better. He played well and especially well served,” said French.

Ten technologies for determining the validity of a goal will compete and try to convince the committee of FIFA rules that require its arbitrators to help make the right decisions.

FIFA said Friday that the 10 systems, it has not identified, will be tested privately in his headquarters in Zurich next week by experts from a technological institute of the Swiss city.

The FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

A report will then be presented to the IFAB (International Football Association Board) after the test session conducted by the independent firm, said the international federation statement.

These tests are at the top of the list of the next annual revision of the Statutes of football IFAB – including FIFA and the four British associations – March 5 this year, Wales.

The IFAB also consider the possibility of UEFA (the European Federation) to use ls to five official system for Euro 2012.

Other proposed changes affect the objects thrown at the ground, the right of players to wear neck warmers and tights, and the possibility for arbitrators to score with a quickly fading paint where must hold the defensive wall on the ground.

The technologies used to judge the validity of a goal is a long time to stumble FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who hammered incessantly that human error is part of the game

However, Blatter has bowed to pressure and promised to reopen the debate at the last World Cup, after England had seen a goal against Germany be denied when the ball had clearly crossed the goal line . This goal in round 16 would have tied the game 2-2, but England eventually lost that game 4-1.

The IFAB said when she accepted the holding of these tests last October that “the indication that a goal has been scored and validated should be immediately below a second.” Only the match officials would receive this confirmation.

The panel will evaluate now the accuracy and relevance of the 10 proposed systems before making “a decision in principle” and “evaluate what could be the next step.”

Even if one of these systrèmes meets all the demands of FIFA, other discussions about commercial use and would use what competitions will be held before it is eventually approved.

Among the systems to be tested include the HawkEye, already used in tennis and cricket, and the system of the company Cairos, which places a chip in the magnetized ball and a magnetic field in the penalty area to confirm if the ball instantly crossed the goal line or not. Both systems have been rejected by the FA Board in 2008 and last March.

The IFAB is an old 125 years that includes members of the federations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales over FIFA, which represents the 204 federated nations, referees, coaches and players. Each member holds a British vote and FIFA has four. A proposed rule must obtain the support of six votes for approval.

Ferrari has unveiled its new car for next season’s F1 world championship. And Fernando Alonso has said that he is confident it will help make amends after a disappointing 2010 season.

F150

The Italian team is the first F1 team to present its 2011 car, called the F150 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy this year.

The car is equipped with a new adjustable rear wing and has been amended to allow the addition of KERS – system kinetic energy recovery – which was banned last year but will return in 2011.

“The F150 was designed with a simple goal, said the boss Stefano Domenicali. Our goal is to win the championship. We know it will not be easy, but that’s what we want. ”

Alonso came close to achieving the goal last year. He had the opportunity to secure the championship in each of the last two races. But he failed in Brazil and he was then beaten by Sebastian Vettel because of a bad pit stop strategy to change tires in Abu Dhabi.

At the dawn of its second season at Ferrari, the double world champion told that he feels more at ease with his surroundings.

“I think I know better team and I’m better integrated, he noted. Any development carried out throughout 2010 was crucial in designing the new car.

“I’m very motivated. 2010 was an interesting year for me. It was my first with Ferrari and I liked the atmosphere. The 2011 season will be an important year with a new challenge after the law changes. We are committed to do everything possible to win and I think we are able to meet the challenge. ”

Ferrari the constructors’ championship finished third behind Red Bull and McLaren. The team also found at the heart of a controversy when she was accused of having applied the team orders at German Grand Prix.

The team was fined $ 100 000 for asking Felipe Massa, word covered during a radio message, to let Alonso pass while the first was leading the race.

Massa enters his sixth season at Ferrari, but he has not won a Grand Prix since 2008.

The season’s F1 world championship, which includes 20 events, kicks off March 13 in Bahrain and will conclude on November 27 in Brazil.
